RETROFIT CONTROL SYSTEM OF PLTD LEGON BAJAK

Nov-2024

The Retrofit Control System Project for PLTD Legon Bajak was carried out at PLTDU Legon Bajak for the end-user PT PLN Indonesia Power. The project aimed to improve the reliability, operational efficiency, and monitoring capability of the power plant through the modernization of the generator control and protection system.

The scope of work included retrofitting the existing generator control and protection system using GE technology. The project covered the replacement of the control and protection panels, upgrading the operator Human Machine Interface (HMI) using GE Optimum C, upgrading the Automatic Voltage Regulator (AVR), and implementing a new digital generator protection system. In addition, a local HMI was installed to provide easier on-site monitoring and operation, while a new marshalling panel was added to support better integration and management of the instrumentation system.

As part of the modernization process, the project also involved the relocation of field instrument cables to accommodate the new system configuration and ensure reliable communication between all connected devices. Following the installation phase, comprehensive testing and commissioning activities were conducted to verify that the entire system operated safely, reliably, and in accordance with operational standards.

The project was successfully completed, resulting in a more modern and reliable control and protection system that enhances operational performance, simplifies maintenance activities, and improves overall monitoring capability for the PLTD Legon Bajak power plant.
